Happy 10th Birthday Sophie!

In my rush to get our vacation pics up I forgot to Say Happy Birthday Sophia, We are so happy you are part of our family!
This is a picture of Sophie at the beach yesterday in Carlsbad California!

Fun Weekend in San Diego

This weekend we had a quick trip to Legoland and San Diego. It was a lot of fun. I took Bridget and Quinn and My Friend Diana and her daughter (Quinn's best friend Nadja) came, along with my Niece Sophie (I invited her to come along because she turned the Big 10! yesterday!) We got up early on Saturday and made it to Carlsbad and our hotel in about 7 1/2 hours with one stop! Yeah Me...We went into Legoland for about 3 1/2 hours that day (we could upgrade our tickets for an extra day for 1 dollar!).
After Legoland we drove about 30 minutes to Diana's sister's house, her husband is a Marine stationed in San Diego. We had some pizza and Diana was able to visit with her and see her two nephews and niece. On the way back to the Hotel we drove by the San Diego Temple, it really is beautiful. We took a few pictures (the security guard took the best one) and then drove back to the Hotel for and early night.
We spent the entire next day at Legoland and had a lot of fun. The kids enjoyed the rides and the weather was really warm by midday so it was nice to spend a day in the sunshine. Quinn was even brave enough to do the knights tournament ride upside down, which his big brother didn't think he would do! It was a fun day and the kids loved finding all of the Santa's in mini land. They ended the day playing with the mind storm Lego's which they all really liked. It was funny because Bridget and Sophia were the best in the group!
On Monday we woke up to sweet sunshine so after a shower and a big breakfast at the hotel we headed to the beach for a while to play before we drove home all day! We met my sister in Lodi to drop off the Birthday girl with her mom and we were home before 8! The kids spent family night watching Little People Big World with dad, who had stayed home to hear a missionary speak before he leaves, and to go shooting at the range on Saturday, and of course work on Monday. We think he enjoyed his quiet weekend! Now we start the decorating today only 5 trees to go!

Family Pictures

We finally got together with Jeff's schedule and Kelly's schedule at work and the kids at school and my work to get some pictures done! We were even able to get Jeff's girl friend Casey with us! She has been around quite a wile so who knows... He is almost 22~ I can not believe how much they are growing up. Quinn will be double digits after Christmas and Bridget is looking forward to Young Women's and babysitting next year. She went to help a new family in the ward today they were moving in and they have 3 month old twin girls (she loved it!) Jeff is advancing at Raley's and getting less headaches... Yeah. He has finished two semesters at school since returning from his mission. He would love to visit the people in Florida again. Casey is a great girl and we all love her very much. The other day we found out that Quinn had already lost all of his baby teeth and I was sad no more "Tooth Fairy"! Quinn said "Don't worry mom we will have kids that spend the night sometime and maybe the Tooth Fairy will be at your house again!" That is Quinn my eternal Sunshine Boy... (PS Thanks Raychel the Pictures are GREAT!)...

A friend sent this to me last night so I wanted to update Quinn's picture, I cannot believe he will be a Webelo in a few weeks and through with Cub Scouts in one year! I do not know where the time flew too! It is nice that his dad has been his cub master for most of the time he has been in Cub Scouts (all but the first month!)

Mormons Stole Your Rights………Huh?

I felt I needed to share this as I have watched the terrible news over the last week. As many of you know I am a convert to the LDS Church, I hold my Testimony dear, I also hold the believe that I live in a country that was founded on the Freedom of Religion and this last week our rights have been violated, our Temples have been vandalized and protesters have scorned us for the belief of Family, Eternal Families something that is at the core of my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While I know we cannot agree; what has been done is wrong, we were treated badly before the election but we won with the support and brotherhood of many of groups it is time to let the voice of the People be heard. Here are some interesting facts.

DISCLAIMER:

- I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THESE FACTS, NOR DID I PRODUCE THEM, this link (http://beetlebabee.wordpress.com/) leads to the actual author. I advise you read his (or her?) blog, it's very well written, and provides much more information on the topic.

Mormons Stole Your Rights………Huh?

Get the Facts:

1. Mormons make up less than 2% of the population of California. There are approximately 800,000 LDS out of a total population of approximately 34 million.

2. Mormon voters were less than 5% of the yes vote. If one estimates that 250,000 LDS are registered voters (the rest being children), then LDS voters made up 4.6% of the Yes vote and 2.4% of the total Proposition 8 vote.

3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) donated no money to the Yes on 8 campaign. Individual members of the Church were encouraged to support the Yes on 8 efforts and, exercising their constitutional right to free speech, donated whatever they felt like donating.

4. The No on 8 campaign raised more money than the Yes on 8 campaign. Unofficial estimates put No on 8 at $38 million and Yes on 8 at $32 million, making it the most expensive non-presidential election in the country.

5. Advertising messages for the Yes on 8 campaign are based on case law and real-life situations. The No on 8 supporters have insisted that the Yes on 8 messaging is based on lies. Every Yes on 8 claim is supported.

6. The majority of our friends and neighbors voted Yes on 8. Los Angeles County voted in favor of Yes on 8. Ventura County voted in favor of Yes on 8.

7. African Americans overwhelmingly supported Yes on 8. Exit polls show that 70% of Black voters chose Yes on 8. This was interesting because the majority of these voters voted for President-elect Obama. No on 8 supporters had assumed that Obama voters would vote No on 8.

8. The majority of Latino voters voted Yes on 8. Exit polls show that the majority of Latinos supported Yes on 8 and cited religious beliefs (assumed to be primarily Catholic).

9. The Yes on 8 coalition was a broad spectrum of religious organizations. Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox Jews, Muslims - all supported Yes on 8. It is estimated that there are 10 million Catholics and 10 million Protestants in California. Mormons were a tiny fraction of the population represented by Yes on 8 coalition members.

10. Not all Mormons voted in favor of Proposition 8. Our faith accords that each person be allowed to choose for him or her self. Church leaders have asked members to treat other members with “civility, respect and love,” despite their differing views.

11. The Church did not violate the principal of separation of church and state. This principle is derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . .” The phrase “separation of church and state”, which does not appear in the Constitution itself, is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, although it has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court in recent years. The LDS Church is under no obligation to refrain from participating in the political process, to the extent permitted by law. U.S. election law is very clear that Churches may not endorse candidates, but may support issues. The Church has always been very careful on this matter and occasionally (not often) chooses to support causes that it feels to be of a moral nature.

Before you point fingers understand the facts. Mormons have freedoms too.

12. Supporters of Proposition 8 did exactly what the Constitution provides for all citizens: they exercised their First Amendment rights to speak out on an issue that concerned them, make contributions to a cause that they support, and then vote in the regular electoral process. For the most part, this seems to have been done in an open, fair, and civil way. Opponents of 8 have accused supporters of being bigots, liars, and worse. The fact is, we simply did what Americans do - we spoke up, we campaigned, and we voted.

"I Saw God Today"

Most people do not know this or maybe some do... Kelly and I eloped after a George Strait Concert. We both love George. (What is not to love in those Wranglers!) We met line dancing, one of our favorite songs is "The Chair" by George. Today I heard this song for the first time and it reminded me to slow down and look for God each day in the little things in life and in the big thngs, like my kids. I didn't think Gerge had any more great songs left but this is probably one of my favorite ever. So enjoy the words and if you cry a little remember how special you are. A child of a Heavenly Father and look for his hand in all you do...

195 Emails, No Computer or TV for Five days...Lots of Projects Done or Started!

So On Saturday our Computer and cable were down, couldn't get the problem fixed until today! We got the house clean on Saturday, made dinner for the missionaries, scrap booked with them and a friend! We had pictures done over the weekend (for Christmas can not wait to see them!) On Monday we made some scrap book pages cleaned up house, got Kelly off to LA for the week and made a blanket (see picture above my first try! It is a present for my kids teacher.) On Tuesday we did some Christmas shopping and made some Christmas cards. This morning took Quinn to the dentist, went visit teaching, picked up some mail at a friends and took the kids to lunch. Came home and had a computer! 195 emails later... I think I am caught up with that and with facebook and now blogging, actually no computer and no email and no television led to a rather productive week! So maybe I should wish for it to happen more often, ugh no I do not think so!
