Happy New Years and All that Stuff

I love Christmas vacation! sitting around doing not much of anything! We baked some cookies, opened presents and tomorrow we will start the celebration that is QUINN! His cousins, Sophia, Stacey, Caleb and Jacob are coming to spend the night and then his party is Saturday morning complete with a Dryers Birthday Cake flavored Ice Cream, Ice Cream Cake! We have not done Christmas with the Angle side of the family yet so we will be all (except Ed and some of the kids far away) together Saturday Afternoon, we will probably also visit the cemetery, which when I went there yesterday it was oddly peaceful, I visited My Great Aunt Nana, my grandma Peg and Grandpa Kenny, Kathleen's little boy Robbie and then Mom and Dad. I missed them so much this year. Buying dad some goofy golf shirt, making sure it had a pocket on the left! and some piece of Irish Crystal or Disney Decoration for mom, smelling her Windsong that Dad would get her. The smell of grandma Angle's applesauce cake and waking up with Dad to have that first piece for breakfast. Sharing See's candy with mom. Watching her in her apron and slippers as she cooked, swore, drank diet Pepsi and made the best fudge I have ever tasted! When Bridget and Quinn woke at 4 am on Christmas morning and they said they were not sure what woke them I was sure it was mom and dad paying me back for all those early Christmas mornings and they probably gave them a little shove! I see them live on through their Children and grandchildren and great grandchildren (10 and 2 more on the way!). I look forward to 2008, At least I can not bury my mom or dad this year... Morbid but true... Anyway we look forward to new family members and new friends and trying to be better people!

Happy Birthday The December Birthdays!

This is our week of Birthdays! Today is our beloved prophets Joseph's 202 birthday 2 years ago as we were celebrating the 200Th year of his birth we lost our dear friend Brian Myers, I know he picked that day to go home because he liked parties! Then we will celebrate the true reason for the season the birth of our brother and Savior even Jesus the Christ. I am so thankful that he would come here to know everything he knew about how he would live and die just for me! I hope I can love my family that much. As I have been rushing around this week getting ready for everything I got sick, really sick with strep throat and Kelly put his back out and Bridget is still on the mend from her cold and ankle sprain and I realized cookies and cards are all nice but having your family with you safe and healthy is what matters the most so enjoy those who are nearby and reach out to those who are far away! We have a dear friend Brother Sorenson who will be 80 on Wednesday! He still does missionary work, he has cards printed up that say ask me about the gospel, that man has a powerful testimony! Then there is our Quinnie, today as he gave a talk in Sacrament and he read from Luke about the birth of his savior and about what Christmas really is he started to cry, he felt that prompting form the Holy Ghost "Yes This is True". When he sat down he told his friend, I hate it when the spirit gets me like that! It was so sweet he didn't want to cry but the feelings about what we should truly picture in our mind as we Picture Christmas this year is that Stable, that is what an 8 year old boy told me today! I hope he continues to grow and realize how wonderful it is to have that companionship and what a wonderful week he was born in to share it with these great leaders, even our Savior! merry Christmas, Oh yea one last note I am feeling better but I am really grateful for a mother in law who taught her son how to cook! Girls if they can't cook well try again!

Feliz Navidad!

Well we survivied the weekend! Thank goodness. Kelly and I are the activity comittee chairpersons at church, or party planners. We just finished with our second Christmas party for about 180 people from our ward. It was Christmas around the world, and Friday night I learned and Kelly too, how to make tamales. They were very good if I do say so myself. Bridget and Quinn had fun with their cousins and Aunt visiting at the party. It was a pretty good weekend all in all, we finished about all of Chistmas shopping YEAH! And we threw the party. Know it should be smooth sailing, I even got my overseas cards and packages in the mail, now it is time to grocery shop and BAKE> I can not wait to wrap presents :) Have a good week, Love Mary

An Apostle, A Clean House, A Christmas Party and a Sprained Ankle

Well the title describes our weekend! We had stake conference so our weekend really started Thursday night as Kelly and I were able to attend the Oakland Temple with about 300 others from our stake it was really wonderful. Then Friday night we went to Kelly's Christmas Party it was really fun this year and dinner was great, Kelly's boss really loves Kelly like a son and thinks the world of him which is nice! Saturday we spent cleaning house and getting ready for the holidays which since we had a powerful wind storm and cold front through here that was good. Even Bridget and Quinn cleaned their rooms, have to make room for Santa! Then Saturday night Kelly and I attended Stake conference and met Elder L. Tom Perry which was really wonderful. Then Sunday morning we went to conference (I got there 2.5 hours early for the soft seats!Kelly and the kids came about 45 minutes before!) The building was standing room only... But it was all worth it to hear from one of the Lord's chosen. Our Bishop was called to the Stake Presidency so we will be having a new Bishop soon too, oh well change never hurt anyone. Then Sunday night we had friends who will be moving soon after the holidays back to Provo over, he served his mission in Germany so Kelly and I made dumplings and Rouladen and Bratwurst, it was a perfect day UNTIL Quinn went into Bridget's room with the other kids tripped on Barbies stable and fell on Bridget's Ankle which is sprained with a strained ligament, who is on crutches for at least one week................ Oh well she has Quinn as a slave for the week... Happy days of Christmas.

December 5Th
Today is the day our parents were married more then 50 years ago. This picture was one of last taken in their home about 14 years ago! It seems hard to believe it has been that long ago! But since then we have new family members and we miss Mom and Dad, but we know that this year they are celebrating together! I am so thankful for Mom and Dad and the example that they gave each of how to love unconditionally! I hope that my children will learn that from me, and so on.............. I also hope they will always have happy memories of Nomi and Papa!
